1. How do I register for the conference?

Go to the REGISTRATION page and follow the links.

2. How do I make arrangements for accommodations?

Accommodations are the responsibility of the conference attendees. Check our website in the accommodation section, for the official hotels and the IFLA-URBIO discounts they offer. 

3. Do I need a Visa to enter Panama?

It depends on your country—you may only need a passport, but you may need a visa.

After you log in to the ConfTool management system, you will find an option to request a Visa invitation.

4. Can I obtain an official invitation to help with my own visa and funding arrangements?

Yes. After you log in to the ConfTool management system, you will find an option to request an Official Invitation.

5. Does the conference provide support to attendees such as myself?

Unfortunately no—currently we have no money to support attendees.

6. What is the official language of the conference?

English and Spanish are the official languages. There will be simultaneous translation for keynotes. Sessions in the afternoon will be in English or Spanish.

7. How do I get to Panama City?

Most visitors get to Panama by air. Panama’s main international airport is the Tocumen International Airport (Aeropuerto Internacional de Tocumen), which is 25 kilometers (15 mi) east of Panama City.

8. Where will the conference be held?

The conference venue is the City of Knowledge (Cuidad de Saber), on the Panama Canal just on the edge of Panama City. Visit: www.ciudaddelsaber.org

9. Money: What is the currency of Panama?

Panama does not print its own paper currency and instead uses the US dollar as legal tender. Panama’s official currency is the balboa. The rate of exchange for the balboa has always been tied to the US dollar—one dollar equals one balboa.

10. Can family and significant others attend the conference?

Of course, but all attendees must be individually registered for the conference.

12. What's the weather like in Panama in October? 

Panama has a tropical climate. The rainy season generally lasts from mid-April to mid-December. During this season it’s typical for rain to come in large bursts in the afternoon or early evening, leaving the morning and night clear. Visits during the rainy season are not completely saturated—there is still a great deal you can do during the day. But do bring raingear or umbrella.  

11. Can family and significant others attend the Gala/Reception?  

Of course, but all attending the conference sessions must be individually registered for the conference.
